This paper first summarizes the role of listening in accounting education. Then it provides a listening-based, algorithmic case that can be used as live events or digital video files in face-to-face or distance learning classes. This paper adds value to the accounting education literature by summarizing information on the communication skill of listening that is dispersed across the accounting and business education literature, by demonstrating how to increase the listening component of accounting courses, and by providing original listening-based, teaching material that is ready for classroom use.
