    Abstract
The Professional Practice Experience (PPE) or practicum is an integral part of a Health Care Coding Certificate Program; it is the only place that a health care coding student can get the necessary hands-on real world experience required for student success and enable students to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world. According to Spindler (2015) knowledge and the process of learning are outcomes of the interactions between specific cultures, contexts, and activities encountered or participated in. Contextualized learning activities and the real world physical environment provide a framework for integrating real world learning objectives and structures which promote and facilitate knowledge construction, long-term memory, and promote a framework for memory recall (Spindler, 2015).
